The floods in British Columbia have been devastating, making an already difficult time for Canadians, even harder. In recent times Canadians have been facing immense hardship with supply shortages, lockdowns, and now, natural disasters. From wildfires to floods, British Columbia is needing help now more than ever.
EarthTech Solutions was the first to be considered and contacted on November 24th, 2021 by Peter Kiewit Sons ULC. to supply our retaining wall products for 105009 BC Emergency Flood Repairs 2021 Project. The specific project was to help rebuild the Bottletop Bridge on Highway 5 in Merritt, B.C.
Wasting no time, EarthTech had offered them a quote with the most suitable products for the project, which in this case consisted of geogrid and welded wire mesh baskets and by 4pm on the same day, Peter Kiewit had confirmed to use EarthTech’s material with a value engineered solution.
Immediately after receiving the approval of Peter Kiewit, EarthTech got the materials ready to ship on Nov 25th, and delivered the materials onsite at 12:30 AM Nov 26th. It took about 32 hours to delivered the materials onsite from the approval of the concept and materials, which help avoid a bid delay, as the driver were stuck on the same road returning home until December 2nd. Thus, proving once again the grave urgency of this situation.
It is becoming increasingly clear that we need to work to fight climate change. This is no longer something we can put off only for the next generation to deal with. This is affecting people around the globe here and now.
These events were exasperated by climate change, even if not directly caused, which at this time is uncertain. There is no better example to showcase that we are in high demand of strong infrastructure that not only counteracts the effects of climate change, but prevents it all together.
